Advice needed on Pistol scope

I'm looking for a sturdy LER (pistol) scope to mount on a military rifle in place of the rear sight. I don't know anything about pistol scopes. Can you fellows advise a reasonably priced and fairly sturdy scope?
I'd prefer something simple, like a fixed 4X power. Thanks.
 
Either burris or leupold. I have a burris 2x7 on my 223 contender and a 2x leupold on my 500 mag. Both are standing up just fine. Optics are about the same for both as in clearness. A used 2x leupold can usually be found in the EE for around the 250ish mark.Pistol scopes are one thing you don't want to scrimp price wise on. You start to lose clearness as well as run into sight picture problems with cheaper scopes. Have you thought about a red dot or something like that?

I'd like a bit more magnification than a 2X....and no red dots. All my shooting will be at 100yards or more.
 
Take a look at the burris line...oh and leupold does make a 4x also..Bushnell was making a 2x6x32 for a bit. Not sure if its still available or not.
