I want to put a scope on the receiver of my mossberg 930 as it came with a rifled slug barrel, however I will need to remove the scope and bases for waterfowl. Will weavers base and mounts allow it to be reinstalled at zero?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, if you were removing only the scope and rings, you could probably find QD rings that would return to within 1MOA or so, but if you want to remove the base as well (which you probably must do for wingshooting) you'll be out of luck. Considering the cost of sabot slugs, rezeroing will be expensive. Can you find a barrel-mounted cantilever base, which will allow you to leave the scope mounted? This set-up works well for me, especially when you "torque" the barrel in the same direction each time you reassemble. Excellent return to zero.

Why not just try it and see? Shoot a group, remove the entire setup, shoot a few shot loads to check pattern and also shake things up a bit, then reinstall the scope setup and shoot another group. Won't take but an hour, less than a dozen shells total, and you will know.

My bet is it won't be too bad to hunt with. Post, back and let us know. :)
