Advice on 6.5 x 47L build.

Got it in my head I need one. After doing a fair bit of reading and studying the CIP drawing and Berger 130 VLD schematic I plan to order a JGS reamer for no neck turn .294 neck and .160FB. I figure this should put the top of the boat tail at the neck/shoulder junction and touch the lands. (Berger 130 VLD). Tell me I messed that up...... Will be a mag fed gun (Likely AI 308 mags).

I would buy a "standard" reamer and then use a throating reamer to throat for whatever bullet you want to seat. May give you a few more options in the future if/when (and we know it will be a when) you want to build another one. Oh as well ditch the bergers and run either a 123 or 139 scenar, I promise you won't regret it...

Second that on the Scenars. Im running them in my 6x47 Lapua and very happy. Im finding them much more consistent than the Bergers in the 7mm and 338.

Thanks for the offer. Still just do it as a hobby for myself, shoot a bit then sell. It will be a twin to this one with a longer barrel. This is my 20" 300WM I did up last week. My 14 year old son needs a rifle for the spring Furlong course. Do you recall what your FB was for the scenars (.140" I'm guessing).

Nice setup. 105 freebore with a 272 neck.

Mine is the 6x47, not the 6.5x47 though.

What brake is that you installed?

Thank you, much appreciated, just got off phone with JGS, great people to deal with! That is a Darrel Holland Radial Port Brake, seems quite effective.
