Advice on a gunsmith for a Luger

[BAAC]

Hey Everybody,

I need a smith to do some work on a 1916 Luger. I already had to have it rebarreled to inherit it, so I'm just looking for someone to go over it and get it to function reliably.

Can anyone recommend a smith who can do good work on a great little piece of milsurp? Lots of good smiths out there - but I'm hoping to go to someone who knows these old guns.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.


EDIT: I know this is a pistol - but I'm after a milsurp smith, not just someone who knows modern pistols.

No problem, hes Not a people person, Doesn't like to chat much But he knows his stuff.

took my grandsons 97 trench gun to him, 40 bucks later it was fixed.

Plus, he likes pointer breeds. He currently has a Viszla. Which automatically makes him a 100% great guy.

(oh and yeah, he's also a very, very skilled and knowledgeable gunsmith).

What kind of ammo have you tried? Are the mag/mags in good condition? What kind of issues is it having? Failure to feed? Eject? Fire?

The trigger is going dead randomly. I think something inside might be worn/broken, but the Luger action is so out of my area of expertise I probably wouldn't know it if I was looking at it.

Understood. I had a nice Luger and knew they are very complex pistols. Hopefully, someone can get her running reliably for you. Being finicky pistols with ammo weight, bullet shape, and mag spring tension , I hoped it was something minor we could have helped with. Good luck and please keep us updated on her progress!!

I don't believe in having a historical item cease to make history!! Shoot it as they didn't build it for a paperweight!! I sure shot mine. I can understand not shooting a gun that is impossible to get parts for, or is structurally unsound due to time and neglect, but Luger's are built like tanks. Have fun!!!
