Just found a Stevens 94 in .25 cal at my local pawn. Other than roached rifling the ext. is in very nice condx.
This little TD rifle has nicely figured walnut furniture with a fitted, concave brass butt plate. Further, the rcvr and lever have been electroplated (?) in a bronze coloured finish. Judging by the hammer spring and oct/round bbl my guess would be mfd just prior to 1910. My question is, could these extras be factory?

I could see nickel plated as a likely factory option, 'maybe' gold, but bronze, not so much.

Sounds like a hobby guys project.

Never say never, but for a rifle that cost about 6 bucks new, you can pretty much bet that the target audience wasn't spending all that much on factory custom parts, when the same extra money would get them way further up the food chain, as far as buying a quality rifle.

Like for roughly double the original price, around 12 bucks, you could by a Colt Lightning .22. Or a Winchester 1885, for about that money.

Source of prices, Sears catalog of 1897. Page 576, and on. https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=uc1.31158001963940;view=1up;seq=557

Think you could be right on that, bro. I just wondered if it might be collectable before I go ahead and sleeve the bbl to .22!
I recall reading somewhere that the factory did indeed offer some customization at one time but I cannot recall which Favorite model this was limited to.
Tks for the comeback, Trev. Much appreciate it.
