I could use some advice on a very nice Colt DiamondBack that I have. It is the most common variation of the DB. However, it is a prohib, 12[6] because it has the 4" barrel. 38special of course.
There are few prohibs that attract value. Pythons, Anacondas, DiamondBacks, 625's, Lugers and a few others. My DB is 90%, not original grips, and not the original owner. But it is nice. My question is what kind of money is a 4" DB worth?

X2 concerning pictures. They'd help. However, 4", at 90%, and I assume it's blue, an estimate from the 'Blue Book' would be in the $600.oo - $700.oo range. Knocking the price down further would be the grips not being original. $500.oo - $600.oo. Being 22LR or 38SPL wouldn't effect the price all that much but I think the preference would be for 22LR. Mine is 4", 22LR, with original box and I'd estimate condition to be 98%+. Value? Again, an estimate based on the Blue Book, I'd venture a guess at between $1000.oo - $1300.oo.

I saw one recently and had to have it. I paid substantially more than $600, but I was able to personally examine it and it was excellent + with box, papers and original grips plus Pachmayer grips. One thing is certain and that is that Colts are king when it comes to handgun collectors. These guns are typically $1500 or more on US auction sites. I consider mine the sweetest handgun I've ever owned.

I have three of them, and while they go for good money south of the border, I doubt you will get half that for a prohib revolver in Kanuckistan. None OEM grips, lower yet. I think $500-600 is the best you will do. You might get lucky and find someone who just has to have one, and has 12/6 status. FWIW. - dan

I have one that's about 98%. Down in the states it would be worth maybe $900, up here $450-500. Thats just the way it is.:(
