Hey guys I just picked up a tikka t3 hunter in 22-250 1/14 twist fluted barrel. Just wondering if anyone had some info or group sizes on some factory ammo outta their tikka with the same twist. I see hornday superformance varmint 50grain, remington umc 50 grain, American eagle 50 grain in most places I shop so hoping someone's tried some.

Try get a hold of some Sako ammunition. I have been using the 180g 30-06 Sako Super HammerHead in my tikka T3 Hunter and have been getting sub-inch groups at 100 meters with a leupold VX3i 3.5-10x40 scope. Great North Precision is where I ordered the ammo from.

your rifle will behave different that all others with different ammo , and different batches of loads from the same manufacturer. your best bet is to just buy some different grain bullets between 40gr to 55 gr and different manufactures and try them . see what it likes.

With a 14 twist google says a 50 grain bullet would be best. I think the MOA guarantee is with sako ammunition, so I'd start there.

From what I've heard and seen Tikka makes some accurate firearms, unfortunately noone will be able to tell you exactly what your gun is going to like. You're just gotta start burning some powder.

The sako was sub 1" in my superlight, but I generally shoot superformance for the last 40 coyotes or so. It is consistently around 1" and shoots flatter than most.

Hornaday 40gr varmint express is the most accurate factory ammo in my tikka and is capable of 1/2 MOA, but I had a couple coyotes run off, so 40gr for groundhogs and 50 for coyotes.

Is the rifle new or used?

It was purchased off the ee with "less then a box through" definitely shows like that. Yeah i picked up a couple boxes of sako for the reason of the tikka being tested with that load. The only negative of the sako ammunition is the ballistic coefficient is terrible lol. That's kinda why I was hoping Hornady Superformance Varmint 22-250 Rem 50 Gr V-MAX shot well or someone had experience with it. The bc is very high so less wind drift and drop

The only reason I asked new or used, is that I have had a few tikkas that I wrote off various ammo as poor accuracy, only to find that after 4-5 boxes and some good cleaning that they now shot great.
