Hi all, I'd like to get into shooting cast bullets in my Lee Enfield.

I am looking for advice for cast bullet sources (as I don't want to get involved with casting my own - for example I understand the Lyman #314299 is a good 200gr cast bullet for the enfield - any others?) and more importantly looking for sources for cast bullet reloading data as most (or all) books I have referenced don't contain the data for cast loads (just data for jacketed loads)

Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks

Naugler,

I use the old Lyman 311284 as cast, no sizing, and it works great! It weighs 210 gr cast with straight wheelweight metal.

It will group between an inch and an inch and a half with 25 gr of 3031 in my Ross sporter with a new Bevan King barrel.

Ted, this sounds like a great place to start. Where do you buy the Lyman 311284? I'll pick up a box and a Lyman book to go with it.

thanks :)

Lyman's 314299 and it's counterpart 311299 are quite often in the winners circle in CBA Benchrest matches....best results are with bullet seated to just kiss the lands...sometimes this may conflict with the length needed to fit in the magazine....my best load is with 19.2 grs. 4759.....these bullets are gas check design and I don't believe that machines can cast this design...as it may not drop well....needs to be hand cast as per M.T. Chambers.
