I'm a newbee to CGN.

I can say onething, CGN has a number of well informed people on firearms. For that reason I'm asking this question.

I looked at some of the forums concerning non-restricted semi's. I've found some (XCR, HK SL8, AR180b, swiss arms PE-90 and the Tavor). If there is anymore can you please inform me!

I would like to know. In order from best to worst in reliability, accuracy, bang for the buck and ammo (reload/factory). Your reasoning of the order. I'm looking to pick one up but my experience on these are non existent. If anyone could help me out so that I could have a nonbiased opinion. This would help me out in my decision.

Thanks.

Sorry freshman. Not trying to be a #### but everyone has an opinion and they all differ. I think the best option is to try them and see what you like.

Try somewhere that has a range where you can rent some of them to see what you think.

I have an XCR coming and I chose it because it wasn't as expensive as the HK, PE, Tavor and the AR180B while comparatively cheap is too cheap looking although it functions fine. I'll let you know how I like it when it shows up, hopefully this week :D

To be honest I've been here a rifle but always assumed that black rifles were out of my league. The cz 858 is the closest I've come, and that $600 was one long and difficult decision!

Of all these "black non restricted semi autos" are there any in the $600 or less range???

I know I'm asking for a lot, but when people say it's pretty cheap - only $1000, I start thinking about just how much food, work and rent that is and start to cry:runaway:... until my wonderful milsurps comfort me..

I don't think you'll have problems with reliability in any of the choices you've listed. As well, each of your candidates are chambered for .223/5.56. So ammo cost differences are redundant. The biggest draw back you'll notice is cost difference between the rifles. Generally speaking, the more the rifle costs, the more precise or harder to come by it is.

I can't give you the full run-down on these, as I've never actually owned any of them. I am on the list for a Tavor though.

I came close to choosing the XCR, but the 1:7 twist on the Tavor and the bullpup factor made up my mind for me.

I was very tempted by the PE90, but I want to be able to use AR mags...and while it's very cool, I just plain wanted a Tavor more. After all, it's my money, right?:)
