Hi fellow CGNers. I'm in the process of researching optics for the above mentioned gun. I just like to shoot at the range and am thinking about getting into 3 gun competition. I like the idea of having some sort of magnification for longer shots p. I also like the holo sight picture for its speed and open sight picture. I've thought about getting a 3x9 and putting an offset red dot or holo sight. I've also thought about the eotech holo with 3x swing magnifier. I'm not sure that the eotech will give me the magnification that I want. I don't want to spend more than $1000.

Any ideas, thoughts or personal experiences with anything similar would be welcomed!

Cheers

Ok...

I have an XCR-L

I had an Eotech on it but found it added too much weight to an already heavy gun. Now I have an Aimpoint H1 2MOA on it and the Eotech is now on my AR.
I have a Sightmark 3X multiplier with a quick mount so I can switch between the AR & XCR-L. It works great and the multiplier only cost me $100. I had a problem with the prices of the big-name mulipliers ($500-$700) considering it requires much less precision than a normal scope. Anyway, if you can get to Hamilton on Sunday with your XCR-L, I will let you try a bunch of optics choices. I also have a Nikon M223 3-12X42, Millet DMS 1-4X24 that are not currently mounted which you can check out. PM if interested...

If depends what type of shooting you're planning on doing. Moving or stationary targets. Longer or shorter range. CQB style matches.

Here are a few, reasonably priced options:

The AR Optics 1-4 and 1-4 PCL Throw-Down have been very popular. The Aimpoint Micro H-1, 2MoA with LRP mount or 4MoA without mount, are more serious optics, that has been proven in the field. The ELCAN 1.5-6x SpecterDR with the 5.56 calibrated reticle is worthy of consideration, as is the Bushnell Elite Tactical SMRS 1-8.5x24mm, if your budget allows.

Have a look at the Sightron SIII1-7x24 IRMOA scope.

Well, within your budget and it rocks... the 1X works and the image quality at 7x is superb. The lit reticle has some very cool function.
