I made up my mind, I am buying one.

I would like some advice on tuning the trigger and action.
I want a real smooth action and good trigger for a target, fun, hunting gun.

1) Which gunsmith will get this work done well and proper here in canada?

2) To the guys that have been down this road what work do you recommend?

thanks

LG, that rifle is not the Guide Gun. The one in your post has a 22 inch barrel.

Sorry man, that is a guide gun that Levi posted. I have owned two of them just like that one. 18.5" barrel in the one pictured...

for tuning, the main item is to get a happi-trigger from wild west guns- available form brownells & they havew a canadian dealer but not sure who- you get a 3.5 # crisp pull, no trigger flop. there's also a lightspring kit form Brownell's advertised for cowboy action (faster cycling- not sure) if reliability ios affected tho- also an aluminum magtube follower, bear proof ejector feom Wild west guns, peep/ghost ring sights, etc

My first changes in order of importance had to do with the nasty recoil of my hummer 480 gr WFN GC at 1900fps......recoil pad and large loop lever, then Williams 5-d peep sight and firelight front(had to get a very high front sight)

great advice guys, thanks...

The nearest gun shop is 4 hours away.
You guys know more anyway. Called experence. So here is how it looks so far...

1) If I don't go the gun smith route on the action smooth job and trigger swap I could get a snap cap and cycle the action and pull the trigger 1000 times.
That would help.

2) So a reciever sight on a hunting gun is the better way to go (vs tang sight)? That ghost ring looks real solid.

3) Did the trigger swap make a big difference? How much $?

4) Yes recoil pad. I thought a limbsaver. Got one that works good on my 30 06.

thanks

the trigger is $90 US at brownells plus shpping etc. in my case i went from 5/1/2 # to 3# - really crisp compared to floppy/gritty

Put on a good western, sit in a lazy boy and cycle the #### out of it.

..................I think Gunnutz needs its own Guidegun forum?? They are getting quite a following and harder to find on the shelf. Why am i always the only one with one at the range??

For Wildwest and Williams parts call Darrel Marsh; (250) 785-7116. He sells and installs these parts out of Backcountry Sports in Fort St. John. I purchased my rifle there over the phone and had him do all the mods before shipping it to me.

Darrel also does a Duracoat and scout-mount package for the guide gun.

I highly recomend the Wild West happy trigger. I also had him install the bear-proof ejector and a pachmyer decelerator pad (another must in my opinion).

Take your gun to Wolf's Guns in Edmonton (before the end of February)...he has done great work on my guide gun actions. Smooth and no jamming. 780-466-1621
