i have a friend comming from England and i am new to alberta i did a little scouting in this area how good is it for white tail/mule deer/elk/black bear?
It is fairly heavily hunted, but the critters are out there. For the elk and bear, your best bet is to go further west. There seems to be lots of deer in the nordegg to rocky area, i am not sure of trophy quality, but the population is certainly there.
I take it you have a hunter host licence and are going to take your friend out hunting. Be sure you are in an area that a "special licence" is not required for the game you intend to hunt.
I live near Rocky and hunt west of town some times. There are loads of white-tails around and it should not be too difficult to shoot a buck or a doe. Getting a big buck is always a challenge. There are black bear around and unless you are baiting them you just have to be lucky to bump into one and get a shot before he detects you and leaves the area.
Out Nordegg Abraham lake way there is game and the scenery is great.
I've done the HH thing a few times, always enjoyed it. WT, 3 point or better elk, and black bear shouldn't be any problem, mulies you'll have to check the regs, you have to hunt where general licences are available. - dan
