Advise on Xcr build in 6.5 grendel

Hey all,

I am contemplating a xcr build in 6.5 grendel. I am going to need a sacrificial barrel and was thinking of getting a xcr micro upper for the weight savings in rail and gas system weight to allow for a longer barrel without a large weight penalty.

Does anyone know if the micro upper is available in Canada and also if it mate to the standard xcr lower?

I think wolverine can bring in the uppers from Rob Arms I know one guy on here had one brought in by wolverine. It was a regular XCR-L upper though not a micro. I don't think you will save that much weight by just switching the uppers it's going to be a heavy biotch regardless. I had a custom Krieger .223 barrel made for mine, it is 20" long and .980" in diameter before the gas block and .750" after gas block. I think with the micro upper on it, it would be very awkward to hold especially if you wanted to mount a bipod on it. Just something to think about.

You might be able to get the barrel extension and gas parts from Wolverine too...try that before taking a barrel apart.
