Good evening all,

Another FNG from Alberta here. Due to the recent events which include social distancing and isolation, I am currently planning my next build. I however ran in to a bit of an issue in being able to locate an Aero Precision M5E1 upper receiver. From what I’ve searched, companies like Saskatoon Gun Works are completely sold out. Was just curious if anyone had any suggestions as to where one might find one.

All comments and suggestions welcome.

Thanks,

Havoc

Red Deer Shooting Center appears to have the M5 upper and lower in stock. I would recommend getting a Stag 10 or Matrix receiver set, all the same benefits and non restricted.

Thanks for all the comments. I sent an email to IRunGuns, just waiting to see what they say. I also sent Saskatoon Gun Works an email as well.

I guess I should have been a little bit more specific in my original post. I am looking at building a short barrel .308, with the barrel length I am looking at it is still going to fall into the restricted category so that’s why I’ve chosen to go with Aero Precision for upper and lower.

Sounds like its gonna be a fun build. What calibre?

I am really looking forward to it. Just need to find an upper haha. With regards to caliber I’m still on the fence whether or not it’s going to be a .308 win or 6.5 creedmoor. I have read pros and cons to both setups, which is getting me leaning more to a .308 though.

Barrel Length Decisions

So I have decided I am going with the 6.5 Creedmoor. I know this is one of those questions that have infinite answers so I’ll try to narrow it down. I’m trying to decide between a 20” and a 22” barrel. I’ve looked at various B.C. charts and there isn’t much loss between the two. Sure the 20” will be lighter for overall weight, but will I still be able to hit targets out to 1000 with it?
