holly crap, I'm shocked.

I'm looking for a ghost ring set, but I would never ever pay that much money.

I was browsing at http://www.tacord.com, It's at least 300$ installed

Vang Comp Systems - Front Sight - White Dot (silver solder on) $95.00
Vang Comp Systems - Front Sight - Tritium (silver solder on) $140.00
Vang Comp Systems - Rear Sight $125.00
Vang Comp Systems - Rear Sight with integral Picatinny Rail $195.00
Installation (drill & tap rear, install front) $75.00

The least expensive combo ( 125 + 95 + 75 + taxes ) is about the price
of my gun.

Any suggestion where i could get a working man version
of a good ghost ring set for a shotgun.

For that much money, i guess i'll stay with the good old bead.

How much would you pay to buy a front and rear site and get somebody else to install it?
One problem with a cheap gun is everything else seems expensive....nothing wrong with a bead.
Another option is to keep an eye out for a rem barrel with rifle sights.....They are usually 20 inch but I got one that's around 18 inches a few years back for around $125 shipped.

Before i knew of Tacord's sight options i used a Rifle sighted barrel with a Williams Remington 7600 peep sight drilled and tapped into the receiver. I just removed the notched sight and ramp on the barrel to clear up the field of view. It has worked up to this point for plinking, so I'll keep it, but the Vang Comp stuff looks a lot more rugged and better protected.

Just a thought,

J

good idea!

The rifled barrel is a very very good suggestions.

I'm looking for some kind of adequate shot placement with slugs up to 50 yards.

the good ole bead will do the trick for a while anyway.

How much would i pay for a ghost ring... well not more more than 150$.

I don't understand why those sights are so expensive,

-we're not talking about high precision tooling ( 1 mil precision max )
-no exotic material ( tool steel, sheet metal or aluminium )
-no specialized heat treatment,
-some rather simple surface treatment.
-not much voodoo engineering
-these could bet cut in about 5-6 minutes on a CNC lathe

thanks!

I recently picked up, new, a wingmaster 870 factory replacement barrel, 20" remchoke, smoothbore, with riflesights, for about $170, in Canada.

I am not 100% fan of the sights, but it works right out of the box.

probably would not fit on rem 870 tactical

another option is somthing i have here, not really a savings but , abotu the best production bbl your goign to get without choke tubes

Interesting, but correct me if i'm wrong, the attachment ring to the
lower tube would not fit. The rem 870 tactical has a longer than usual
lower tube (16 inches), so i suppose it would not work as is.

BTW, I would not have any trouble paying 200$ for this.
An extra shotgun barrel is a good investment IMHO.

Great website!

The one Bad Boy is selling will work, you can see in the picture it's a regular 4 shell tube with an extension added.
I really like the remington rifle sights and find them just as fast to pick up as a ghost ring.....mine are not tritium (glow in the dark).
