I think I want to go with Holographic sight for my M4. EOTech is a bit out of my price range as they cost more than what I paid for my gun. :( Are there any affordable ones on the market?

Any places in the states that will ship them?

Vortex has a lifetime warranty for around $200. The dot size could be a little smaller ( I think it's 4 moa)but the one I looked at was pretty good.

I believe that the Bushnell Holosight has been discontinued by Bushnell; however, you might be able to a dealer that has one still in their inventory or perhaps you could look for a used one.

The vortex isn't a holosight, its a red dot.

The site for the chinese copies is ebaybanned.com.

The problem with the Chinese knockoffs is that they are impossible to see outdoors in sunlight. They're nice for indoor shooting, and the zero is fine on a .22 at least, but they are crap on an outdoor range.

the cheapest ones, to my knowledge, are the NC Star (starting at around $35.00).

Chinese made, however they give you a lifetime warranty.

I have two of them, one one my SKS and the other on my Ruger Charger.

They work great, are very accurate and don't forget if something goes wrong, send it back and they will give you a new one.

and they are not Holographic either.. typically the Chinese clones are not robust enough to deal with the vibration and shock of real firearms.. they are more "costume accessories"than functioning optics.

Reticle ghosting, dim dots and really bad reflections make them a non starter for an effective optic.. frankly iron sights are better.

With optics whether they are binos, glasses, scopes, red dots ...there is no free lunch. You want quality, pay quality prices.

If you are on a budget keep an eye on the boards for a used quality optic.

not true !

Sparc is a 2MOA dot. Nice sight.

We'll be retailing Vortex sights shortly, going to try and carry their full tactical line.

Nice, I was looking at the strikefire because no one had the sparc in stock and I think the Strikefire was a 4 moa

Sparc is a sweet little package.

Mostly true... I've had 3 or 4 different clones.. from the cheap $40 to a $220 top end replica.. none of them lasted.. and none of them hold a candle to a genuine Eotech on any criteria other than external appearance.
