First announcement out of the SHOT show...

Freedom Ventures is now the Canadian Distributor for AFTEC extractors for 1911s. These No-fail extractors operate with long-lasting coil springs for increased service life; they provide enhanced, reliable performance for 1911 shooters. Aftec Extractors are machined from super strong, alloy steel; specially hardened and heat treated to last indefinitely. They install easily in Series 70 1911 Autos without slide modifications. (Some filing on the firing pin stop is required) Series 80 1911s that have had the firing pin safety disabled can use these too.

These are a must for anyone shooting a race gun with a scope over the ejection port as it makes extraction extremely consistent - and with so little space to get that brass out, you need consistency.

Regular 1911s can benefit from the design too. Aftecs are available for 9mm, 9X23, 9X21, 38 Super, 40 S&W and 45ACP.

You can always tell someone who has an Aftec installed; their brass is in neat little piles as it all lands in the same place.

We have dealer pricing and retail pricing and all of their line in stock, including caps and replacement springs.

Sean.

How different is the .38 supercomp extractor from the .38 super extractor? Deeper hook?
Yep - deeper hook.

The 38 Super one is .050 deep, the 9mm/38 Super Comp one is .042

You can tell the difference when you put a 9mm one in a 38 super - it just feels too tight.

Millineum recommends the 9mm one with Super comp / TJ, etc. with Caspian and STI slides and SVI sldies with the 38 super breechface.

They recommend that if you have the SVI slide with the 9mm breechface, you actually get the 38 super extractor for 38 super comp / TJ, etc.

Ben loves the Aftec in his gun(and so do I),the gun is so much more reliable with anything that I throw at it and the brass is much easier to find!! Now I'm thinking of putting one in my Edge, even though it's working fine.

sean, would the 2011 require any special fitting for this extractor, or is it a drop in part?

you need to round the corners on your firing pin stop a tad so that it rocks back and forth freely and possibly remove a bit more material from the extractor cut out on the barrel.

thanks, unless I run into problems (which I doubt), i am going to stick with the stock pistol, and just have the Mitchell right side mag release installed.
Everyone had been telling me that they shoot them pretty well in stock form.

Yeah, all of what Madness said was correct - they do need a little fitting (but it's simple while tuning a standard extractor is a black art...) Like the button, since the gun's starting with me, I'd be happy to put it in for you if you decide you want one.

I have two of these in my Para LDA and Para P16 double stacks. The LDA is a 9mm, the P16 is a 40. I no longer have any issues with extraction. This after having 2 Ed Browns have the claw break. I had to do some filing to fit the firing pin stop on the LDA, but now I have zero issues. Yes, they are both series 80 guns, but the first thing that came out of the guns was that stupid series 80 plunger.
