What is a good, not too expensive, after market bull barrel for a 10/22? I was thinking of maybe doing a project, but I don't want to spend ridiculous amounts of money. Just a decent barrel, trigger and stock. It would be a gopher gun primarily, and maybe some sillywet.

If you dont mind the weight, try Green Mountain, Shaw. Stay away from Clerk and BC, I havent used them but Others who have dont think they shoot as well for the same money. I like my EE Shaw alot, but I really need to bed the stock (Boyd's) to the barrel/action. For more definitive reviews on 10/22 stuff, try rimfirecentral.com.
For light weight target barrels, Magnum Research, Volquartsen, and Whistlepig make some nice stuff. STAY AWAY FROM BUTLER CREEK LIGHT WEIGHT BARRELS. Their point of aim changes over a few shots. (However, earlier BC AL barrels were Ok by some reports.)
As I said earlier, rimfirecentral is the place to go for 10/22 stuff. It just gets damn expensive after a while. :D

I've owned 3 Clerke barrels...all were fantastic shooters......
I would contact willwagspal here on the site,he is the "go to" guy for GM barrels...I believe he has one listed in the EE

I too have used several Clerke barrels and have been quite happy with the accuracy (1/2in at 50m is easily attainable with a bit of concentration, best groups were 1/4in or thereabouts). Green Mountain has a good reputation as well but I have never tried one.

I have had awesome experience with the 2 butler creek barrels I have on my 10/22s. One is a carbon fibre, and the other is a 20 inch non fluted.

When I bought the 20 inch, I read everything I could online, and they were getting very bad reviews online. I figured for the price I'd try them anyway. Long story short, the rifle will often put 10 shots into 3/4-1 inches at 100m over and over again, with my girlfriend shooting. I get slightly better from time to time. At 50m, it is a hole.

The carbon barrel is almost as accurate, but I find it a bit tough to shoot due to the lack of weight.

I have not experienced any wandering zero, or crappy groups, or anything else like that. I shoot american eagle hollow points almost exclusively, and never bothered with an ammo test with the barrels. The AE stuff was fine, and cheap. I have both barrels mounted to unchanged 10/22s for two years (in june and july). I have never seen one that did not shoot first hand, which is directly in contradiction with internet chatter. I would recommend one.
