I recently acquired a Fabarm Martial Compsite 14" shotgun with Pro Forces stock upgrade from a fellow Nut. However, the shotgun currently only has a front post sight. There is no picatinny rail on top of the receiver or rear aperture. I have grown accustomed to ghost ring sights and really like the Wilson Combat/Trijicon Trac Loc GR sights. I know that they are available at Tactical Ordnance and others.

My understanding is that the Trac-locs were designed mostly to fit the 870's. Has anyone tried to have them fitted to a Fabarm Martial receiver? If so, were any modifications required? The curvature in the top part of the Fabarm receiver appears to be slightly steeper but still very similar to that of the 870. I contacted Arwen Ace but he states that he has not yet had a chance to install the Trac-Locs on a Fabarm. If someone has ordered them and had them installed themselves, I'd like to know. I really like the simplicity and low profile of the Trac-locs.

Are there other GR sights similar to the Trac-Locs available as an alternative? I do not like the look of the factory Fabarm ghost rings and am not planning on mounting the top picatinny rail. I prefer the clean look of just the sights I plan to stick to irons as opposed to red dot, etc., therefore not requiring the top picatinny (I will mount one under the foregrip instead for attachments). Suggestions are appreciated.

Sell it and buy a ProForces Martial...Those sights are awesome. I have the Comp version like your's and am fine with it. She has only one job and is build to do it right.

Ghost rings are nice and I enjoy the ones on my 590a1, but those PROFORCES ones are the ####

Don't they use LPA sights? Ask the guys at TSE, they can help you out

Ike,
Not familiar with "LPA" sights...It may be a newbe question but what are these?
Thanks, for the suggestion. I was going to call TSE to order a few things anyways, so I'll ask them about the sight suggestions as well.

pdb,

While I can appreciate the fact that the post sight will still serve its purpose, I still prefer the quick aquisition/sight picture of the ghost rings...personal preference I guess.

As for selling the Composite w/Proforces stock and then buying the ProForces Martial, I would inherently loose in that transaction. Even though the Fabarm I got, looks new and has only seen about 20 rounds, I would still have to sell it as "used". New Composites with the stock upgrade go for just over $600 and new ProForces go for $830 = difference of $200+. New Trac-Locs are just over $100. Money aside, I still prefer the compsite set up with the rail under the forestock as opposed to the receiver top. I also like the lower profile of the Wilson Combat type sights as opposed to the stock ProForces sights (higher) that appear to be mounted onto of the picatinny rail.

I appreciate the feedback! Anyone have experience installing aftermarkets sights on a Fabarm?

Fire Ant, if you do a search for LPA sights (try here and a general internet search) you will find them.
I haven't used them myself but they look like the ones on the Fabarm..I remember some folks liked them and some didn't think they were strong enough.
Cheers

yea the fabarm proforce uses LPA shotgun sights, as seen on their page. buy em from brownells and mount em yourself or through a gunsmith and save money. I bought my proforce without the sights and saved a ton, then threw a rail on and a holosight (for free I might add, being a machinist rocks :p)

Thanks for the suggestions! I did a search on the forums for the LPA sights and it seems Italian Sporting here in the Lower Mainland sells them. I'll have to go check them out. Are there any other distributors up north?

...I still love those Wilson Combat sights though  I compared the receiver shape of the Fabarm to My buddy's 14" 870 Remy. They seem quite similar in shape, the only difference seems to be the slant near the end of the receiver where it attaches to the stock. I'll research some more, but the Scattergun Tech/Wilson Combet Trac-Locs might work with a slight adjustment...

I'll post my findings.
