hello,

has anyone come across dovetail style open sights for their ruger scout rifle?

the ghost ring is nice but i prefer the sights on my no.1 and 10/22.

i think that would be a great improvement over ghost rings for me.

i prefer irons. ive thought about an eotech, but after seeing some pics of one mounted scout style. it was just to much.

Hey Baker,

I too am partial to iron sights...

Check out a forum primarily for scout rifles www.scoutrifle.org
It isn't a high traffic forum, but a lot of useful info for all things Scout. If this link is not allowed, pm and I will send the address over. I am Mark Mags on there as well.

I'm not a fan of the ghost ring sights either... I put a Vortex Razor reflex sight on mine and love it.... tagged for interest, I wouldn't mind a nice set of irons as a backup...

thats a nice looking sight. it physically looks alot smaller and streamlined compared to an eotech. how far out do you go with it? did you mount it straight to the picatiny rail or did you have to get another mount for it. i see in some videos with it mounted to a riser of some sort.

new england custom gun works (NECG) makes some nice stuff too. Getting one of theirs on a 45-70 at the moment, well, been at the smiths since november or december actually.

It is a full barrel band mount to the front sight that looks to be retained by a sort of pressure pin. I haven't found a way to constructively take it off (versus destructively). I also have not seen any aftermarket front blades anywhere. I would like a thinner one since that blade is a bit crude.
