After market trigger /mod 788 rem

I bet Western Gun Parts in Edmonton could hook you up. I know they deal Timney stuff. But, the last time I saw a Timney 788 trigger, it was almost $200. For that price, a competent gunsmith could probably work wonders on the factory trigger

788 triggers are tricky to work on. the previous post was right, you need a "competent" gunsmith, one who has worked on 788 triggers before. Buying a new and expesive trigger might be cheaper than two or three different gunsmiths.

Timney definitely makes one. Epp's sells 'em. No price on their site, but they run $119.95US on Timney's site. The safety and bolt stop are on the trigger.

Can't argue that it might be much easier to purchase a Timney. Here is the print.

From recollection there were two slightly different styles of 788 trigger. Properly reworked the triggers were very good. The tricky part at times was making the safety work properly. Don't get in a hurry!

I bought the Timney (from Brownells - less than 100$ US as of 14 months ago and NO hassle - shipped to my door in less than two weeks and NO paperwork) and installed it in less than 10 minutes. After seeing how to adjust the Timney, the modifications to the factory trigger illustrated above were very simple to do however the Timney is still better. It just feels cheaper because the actual trigger is thinner and it lacks the ribbed feel against your fingertip.
IMO it is still money well spent and if you really look for the best deal, you will have no trouble reselling it at a profit if you decide to do so.
