OK about all thats still Remington on my F class rifle other than the receiver is the trigger, who makes the best trigger (want to set it to about 1 1/2 to 2 lbs). Cost does not really bother me but quality is a must.

I have a Timney and a Jewell.I had Rifle basix as well in the past and The jewell with out question is the best I have ever used.

If you can find one the Canjar 3 lever trigger is the best .... probably Anschutz and Jewell next. Shilen did make a well regarded trigger but I haven't tried it nor the Basix. Timney are good.. but not in the same class as the first 3 ... a stock trigger can be set up as nice as a Timney by someone who knows what they are doing ... I don't ... but have experienced a 700 trigger set up by a pro - it was fine.

I wish I had time to set up my Anschutz trigger (Germans do know how to make some quality pieces) but without having done that....Jewell.

We stock Jewell and Shilen! Bring in others based on demand. I have yet to have one with a problem or misfire!

If its any help, the bulk of the BR shooters use Jewell exclusively. A fully dressed Jewell with safety and bolt release are selling for $299 and of course lower without lever/safety or in the BR version.

A person needs a conversion kit to use the Anschutz on a Rem style action.

Canjar are nice but definitely not as popular as Jewell. I've been waiting for almost a year and they still don't have the parts in stock to get one out!

Some of the European set triggers are nice too but for the Remington 700 and custom actions - Jewell appears to be the master....

I really love the Canjars I own, but for 99% of the time the Jewels are more than adequate, and far less costly and MUCH quicker to obtain.
They are also far less finicky, the Canjars have more adjsutable bits that do need to be adjusted from time to time.
Hence my posting the Jewel for a Remington is the best in my opinion

If you have an older style rem action, the factory trigger can easily be tuned to the pull weight you want and it can be every bit as crisp as an aftermarket.

For comp work, I would suggest you consider a much lighter trigger. It matters ALOT. For weights 2 to 8ozs, the jewel is the way to go. I had a Shilen but it still had a smidge of creep at very light pull weights. Kind of irritating. Could have just been that trigger group too. Others seem to like them.

If you are thinking, how can you possibly feel creep on a trigger with a few ounces of pull weight, you need to try it. In time, you will be able to feel the take up on a trigger with a 4 to 6oz pull weight.

In comp with the pressure on, that feather weight pull will feel like a ton.

Presently playing with the Rifle Basix for the Savage and quite like it (set around 6ozs). Also, have Timneys set up on P17 that are in the ounces but never had one on a Rem.

Triggers

I have had many canjars over the years, timney, and others but new Jewell I put in Rem 700 is by far the best.
good luck
