Hello CGN users, I've done a little researching and cannot find the answer to my question maybe you can help? Myself and my references phoned in and did all 3 of my interviews for my RPAL over a week ago(On April 27th). Just wondering what is left for the CFC to do now that the interviews are done? Should I call to ensure that I didn't miss anything on my application?

Extra info
-Have already had PAL already for over a year
-CFC received application on April 4th
-No criminal, mental or financial reason to warrant a delay

There still is the mandatory waiting period before they issue. Can't remember exactly how long it was, 28 days or something from receipt of the app. It cannot move until that period is over.

I thought they sat on the app till it was 28 days old then began processing it ie interviews and stuff. Might be different give he already had a license though.

You can check the status online also.

You can get everything submitted, interviews done etc before the waiting period is over, and if you (and them) are really on the ball they'll issue the licence on the 29th day.

That being said, after my 28 day wait they came up with another 15 day wait period I had to go through, so who knows how long it'll take. If you're concerned then give them a call and ask.

I thought the waiting period was for your first license, so by me having my PAL I have already waited my 28 days.

If you have your pal and are applying for rpal you need to still wait 28 days,my old lady is on day 26 for her rpal and she allready had her pal

"If you are renewing a PAL or "upgrading" from a POL or a PAL there is no 28 day waiting period."

Pulled straight from the Shorten Pal Approval Times sticky in this Section

Ya well tell it to the cfc that said "you need to wait the 28 day waiting period"
Im deaf but not that deaf i heard what they said to her becouse right after i asked them myself. I had a pal for years then when i upgraded to my rpal i had to wait 28 days as well how about you call the cfc yourself instead of relying on subjective forum banter

Urine test, DNA sample and they'll be by with form CFC-FB1 (first-born) for you to fill out. ;)

If interviews are done then phone the CFC every couple days. All it needs is your Provincial CFO's stamp of approval, depending on backlog, it could be a bit of a wait..... But your close.

There is a minimum 28-day waiting period for all applicants
who do not presently hold a valid firearms licence.
from page 1 information sheet for PAL application

I thought this would mean if you already had a PAL no 28 day wait for RPAL- but maybe they are referiing to renewals.

I don't know if this holds true for other provinces or if it has anything to do with the issue of the license but the Ontario CFO office is completely backlogged due to the border patrol hiring. There is apparently 1000 jobs and 20000 applicants and they all have to have their RPAL. This would certainly slow things down.

There's no 28 day wait period to add Restricted privileges. It's not banter, the officer was simply incorrect. You already have the license, the waiting has been done. No different than adding an air-brake endorsement to your drivers license. Perhaps Sask CFO policy is to sit on it another 28 days, but it's not the rules.

RCMP website says 'service standard' is to have a properly filled out application completed (and if successful, issued) license to the individual. This is not set it stone, it's their "target" timeline. I had my license issued on day 29, like Atticus stated. Spur has already waited. Their "application" time standard is 30 days. I suspect this means applications for additional privileges. So either way, you're waiting.

Anyone who's not PAL license and is reading this thread; GET YOUR RESTRICTED ENDORSEMENT WITH YOUR PAL. It's an extra $20 to do it all at once, just do it.

Copied right off the RCMP web site

Our service standards to process a complete and accurate application are 45 days, including the 28-day legislated waiting period, for a licence application, and 30 days for a registration application.

From the Canadian Firearms Centre website:

Note: An accurately completed firearms licence application normally takes about 45 days to process. Incomplete and inaccurate information can add additional processing time.

With my recent PAL/RPAL, the licence was issued 29 days after the CFO received my application.... Took another week to arrive in the mail...
