Hey gunnuts. I've never owned a shotgun before and am not really too up on the shotgun part of the market, but I'm buying my first one from a local shooter this week. I'm getting an older Remington 870 Wingmaster. He said it's 20-30 years old or so. It's a full choke barrel without changeable chokes.
Am I correct that any modern 870 bbl should fit on this gun? My desire is to be able to use it with a rifled barrel and turn it into a deer gun (there are some areas in my region that only shotgun slugs or bows can be used to hunt deer). I'd also want to look into getting a barrel with choke tubes I can swap out, but that's less important.
I'm not a stickler for ultra high quality, uber-precision stuff made by companies with German names, but I also don't usually buy the cheapest thing I can find, so can someone suggest a cost-effect barrel I should look at for turning this shotgun into a slug cannon?
Thanks
