Hi guys,

Any suggestions on where I could find a nice aftermarket or replacement stock for my 686? Ideally Canadian, but failing that, anyone who will ship to Canada.

i have a very nice stock/forearm in as-new condition---no hardware----i may sell it as i am upgrading to a precision fit stock---looking for 450.00---

My preference for a competition gun is Valeriano but if you are simply looking to upgrade the wood check with Cole Gunsmithing.

I was hoping to be much closer to the $175 end!

Basically, the stock on my 686 was shortened... and then re-lengthened (before I got it)... and the wood doesn't match... looks crappy...

The factory stock dimensions fit me pretty well... so I don't think I need it specially measured...

I am a big fan of nice wood, but I'm also realistic, knowing that this probably won't be my last shot gun so I'm not looking to make it a collector's piece... My next shotgun will be a much higher end one... I'll go for the really nice wood then...

I got a stock from Cole for my 391. It cost me $900. I know that sounds like a lot of money, but I wanted to go all out in building my clays gun. The wood is absolutely "eye popping"! Lots of people think its fake until they really look it over. IMO, save up and get a Cole stock for your 686, guaranteed it will be beutiful.

The add on wood to lengthen the stock is one of the harder things to get to look right. Grain matching. Colour matching etc. Less expensive and to my eye a better and cheaper way is to use a black hard rubber/ plastic spacer and match it with a black recoil pad. Find the right combinations of spacers and pad to give you the correct length of pull.

A friend did this with a nice english double that had been shortened by another owner and it looks very good.

You may want to get this done by a gunsmith to get the best fit but even a new stock should be checked by a good smith for fit to your receiver.

Best of luck with what very you choose.
