Hey does anyone know what gun stock options are for Savage 110 Long action? I had seen Choate makes a few stocks and I like the Varmint one. Anyone know any Canadian Choate dealers or any other manufatures.

Boyds and Richards Microfit both make very good after market wood and laminate stocks for Savage. If you are looking for synthetic all te bigs like McMillan, wilcat etc make stocks.

I'm thinking this way too for a Savage 116 in 30-06 w/detachable mag. Anyone come across any other options? I called Choate and they don't have a stock for the savage long action with detachable mag. The very low angle on the factory "pistol grip" area of the Savage stock is a problem for me, maybe because of my short fingers. I realize that many will say "buy a 308" but I am happy with the 30-06.

The Choates are a decent stock for the money, I have one on my Savage short action. Got it from Sean at North Shore Barrels, I got the non adjustable version, but now I wish I had gone with the adjustable stock instead. I thought I would save money, but I still had to buy the add on cheek piece which is a real pain in the a$$ if you ask me, and I have no adjustable LOP or cant on the butt stock.

My next rifle will wear either the XLR Industries stock or a Robertson Composites tactical version. The XLR looks almost infinitly adjustable and very durable as an all aluminum chasis, but I have to say the Robertson stocks look awesome as well and I think I prefer the look of the more traditional style stocks.

Anyhow, back to the original question. Sean at North Shore Barrels is a great guy to deal with and he can get the Choate stocks for you. He gives good prices and great service too!
