I got a Boyds laminate for my Remington 700 some years ago, and am quite pleased with it. A friend mentioned today that he wanted a new stock for his Remington .223, and I suggested Boyds. However, I remenber being told that they no longer ship to Canada. Is this true? If so, is there anyone who imports them or maybe another alternative? He needs something with a higher cheekpiece than most factory stocks provide. Idea's?

I've heard they do need some work when they arrive; but they look pretty nice on the web.

Try googling "Great American Gunstocks". They used to ship to Canada. I've read pro & con. Be specific & know what you want. Please post how you do regardless as we all appreciate a good or bad reference.

You could also google Richards Microfit. I have three stocks from them, and they are great. They require some final finishing as well, but they have about two dozen different styles and laminate colours, so you can order exactly what you want.

"...his Remington .223..." What model? Where are you? Epp's is listing a few SPS synthetic stocks. Under 'This and That'.

Epp's also lists boyd's as a company they deal with. click on shooting accessories then go to stocks and they have a link to boyd's gun stocks. give Epp's a call or e-mail them. good luck

Thanks for the help thus far. Should have been more specific, his rifle is a Rem 700 .233, RH, with the heavy barrel. It has a factory laminate on it now, but he needs a stock with a higher cheekpiece. On a rifle that fits him, I can't even get my eye aligned properly with the sights, I'd have to tilt to aviod breaking my cheekbone! He's a small to average build, but has kind of a round face which seems to make most stocks to low combed for him.
