As we've noted, the plastic grips that come with the CanAm Norinco 1911 are crap, and for the most part are showing up cracked or broken. I've watched with interest as many of you have replaced them with wood grips, some of which have been sourced from Ebay.

Are those of you who have purchased offshore grips happy with them? Are you able to share some pics? How was the fitment in general?

Please provide a short description of the grips and who you bought them from, as well as some PICS!!!! :)

VZ cherry grips. The pics don't do the grips justice as they are crappy iphone pics when the gun was still oiled up.

I like em tho......

Here is mine I wanted a more classic appearance, I bought double diamond wood grips and soaked them in linseed oil over night. Cost $30 shipped to my door from india.

As for quality the left grip is perfect and right grip the checkering in some spots was rough, but Im happy overall. the rough edges I did sand down lightly with 220 grit sandpaper.

You can get cosmetic seconds from hogueauction. The site has pictures of the actual grips you'll buy. There is some really nice wood available...

If you want wood, try going for some Colt rosewoods.
How they look on my Colt:

Google "Colt medallion grips" too - those're great!

Got some ebay wood grips for mine in transit, will post a pic when they show up. For now I'm using the plastic fab defense mag well grips. They're alright I guess.. Kinda cheap feeling ( $15... )
