AG-42B for newbies...

As others have said, make sure you keep the safety on at all times unless you're on target with your finger on the trigger, lest you want to run the risk of mangling said finger. Other than that, great rifles, even better with the gas system adjustment screw mod that doesn't eat your brass and chuck it to the next province. If you don't have the mod done it's a bit of a reloader's only gun, stick with 4064 and the like as previously said. Very accurate, soft shooting is an understatement. The brake kicks up the noise a bit so double up on hearing protection.

If you want to save your brass, you need to look into the mod to tame the ejection. Depending on how your range is set up, you might lose friends.

You are so right. Guys are reloading for this beast? You would be lucky to find the brass. where does a guy find stripper clips for this? Guys here talk with experience. To the OP. I bought one with out the mag. I struck it rich EPPS had one and grabbed it. It took about a year. Now I need a shell deflector. That might tame her down

You can find stripper clips on Ebay pretty easy. Same as for the Swedish Mausers.

I may reload for mine one day, but right now I'm shooting factory Hornady SP's. They work pretty good without the brutal ejection issues I've had with Federal/Winchester. That ammo was way too hot I think.

The local gun store sells em for 500$, I got mine for 150 (moddified) parts and sold it on here for 300 planning to buy the one local but decided against it because they eat up brass so its very inconvenient. Expect lots of ruined brass cases.....

Also seen one without mag for 160 at a gun show last year. No interest because the mags are like 300$.

LOL!! The ejected brass is almost as deadly as the bullets exiting the muzzle from these rifles, they sure fly with authority...
