Hi all
I have just purchased an AG42 and getting ready to let some lead fly at my club. I have been told and have read not to use modern ammo because it may cycle the action too violently and damage the gun. I have talked to a few others and get mixed responses. I have purchased some PPU 139gr and some Sellier & Bellot
140gr ammo. Is this considered modern or is it considered a military type load that would have been original to the gun? Modern ammo to me would be Federal, Remington etc. Any info would be great.
Thanks
Ron

Note
The ammo that I purchased will be reloaded. I bought it for the first shot plus the brass. It's the first shots that Iam worried about.

My AG42B likes the PPU 139gr and is pretty accurate with it as well.
I'm reloading the brass and have been using 120gr and 140gr bullets, both work very well.

The PPU will be fine.
Be very mindful of where your fingers are when field stripping it.
It's terrifying using stripper clips until you build your confidence.

And make sure to put the safety on before loading or putting your fingers in the action, that bolt has a lot of inertia when if slams into battery, will be very painful
getting your thumb caught in it!

Do not shoot Federal ammo or Federal Primers in the AG-42b. The primers are too sensitive and I had a out of battery detonation with one because of it. I highly recommend reloading for it.

I have researched the AG42 in order to understand its operation before shooting it. (Gotta love you tube) All available information warns of getting fingers in the wrong place at the wrong time. Thanks to all for the input.
