age of garand?

how can i find the age of a garand?
Also on the receiver there is a pic of a anchor and a 4 digit # under it.
any help would be great.

Sounds to me that you have Breda Garand. What else is stamped on the
receiver?

The anchor and number are on the read sight cover, No? This was the case with Italian Navy Garands

If so, then look to the heal of the receiver for the serial number then let us know

Without seeing the rifle, I'm going to suggest without hesitation the following:

- your rifle is an Italian made Garand bought by Denmark (the serial number will be FKF PB ###X or FKF BMR ###X)
- the anchor is not on the receiver, but on the sheet metal back sight cover
- the barrel will be marked SID with a digit a dash and 55 or 56 (pull back the operating rod and look at the exposed markings). The barrel may be a VAR, which was a Danish arsenal replacement and a good barrel to keep.

The date of the receiver will be the same as the barrel, 1955 most likely.
