Hey,

I'm in the Ottawa area and new to shooting. I just kind of took the course on a whim in June, and (im)patiently waiting for my RPAL license to go through. My 28 days are up Aug 5, but I'm still waiting for the CFO to get through with my application.

I was actually directed here by my safety course instructor.

Mostly I wanted to get into shooting clays, but also just want to throw lead down range using my grandpa's SMLE Mk4 No1 (post-war build). Also interested in some pistol shooting. I'd love a 1911 or a BHP, but we'll see. I want to shoot all the guns. All of them :)

Aside from firearms my other expensive hobbies are collecting scotch whisky, paintball, and mortgage payments.

Oh and I'm 27. I dunno why that's important. If I don't write it down somewhere I'm liable to forget.

I'm thinking NCCRA since they've got the full service field, and I want to do a bit of everything. Or maybe Stittsville. I want to visit the fields first before deciding. Maybe take up the limited guess passes to try everything out. Any recommendations?
 
Give EOHC a look. If nothing else they have been running 3 or 4 military surplus rifle shoots each year for a while now. You will get to meet a great bunch of guys.
And welcome.
 
Eohc membership is on hold right now until the meeting aug 20. I plan on joining them since they are 10 min from my house. Never been to the others yet. Want to try capital skeet ASAP.
