With the recent addition of a Near tapered base and Arktis dragbag (plus mucho Dinero....), my AI-700 project is FINALLY complete!!!!

What started out as a box stock Rem 700P-DM has turned into this:

Build List:

-Chamber for .308Win
-Rem700P Action
-McPhee Stainless Steel 26.5" AMTU contour barrel with 1 in 11.3" twist.
-Accuracy International AICS stock
-Accuracy International Bipod
-Near Mfg. 25 MOA tapered Picatinney base
-Schmit & Bender 5 - 25 X 56mm PM-II with Illumintaed P4 reticle
-Badger Ordnance 34mm Maximised Alloy rings (high)
-Dlask Bolt Handle conversion
-Damage Inc. Custom Camo TW CADPAT paint job
-Eagle cheekrest/stock pack
-Arktis OD Dragbag

The action was "blueprinted" and rebarrelled by the late Ron March.
Thanks to Ed Begg/V-Bull Precision for pointing me in Ron's direction and supplying many of the high-end parts.;)

If I do my part this rig can shoot 0.5 MOA or better, and has done so.:D

This was a "work in progress" since 1996.........................

11 years in the making....
Looks like an assembly of quality components that should last a lot longer than it took to build!

Great looking rifle! That CadPat camo must be quite time consuming to apply. But well worth it.

It should be a great shooter, Ron definitely did good work. Ron got me into shooting about 20 years ago and worked on all of my gun projects. It was always interesting to visit his machine shop and check out the latest project he was working on. I remember the DSR-1 he was modifying for a customer. I damn near dropped it when he told me the price! :D
He was a good friend and is missed very much.

Enjoy your new baby, it looks like a sweet set up!

Cheers!

Now, you only need to paint the scope and she'll be done! :D

I have toyed with the idea, but painting a $4000.00 scope still has to grow on me.........;) For now I have lots of TW CADPAT material inwhich to wrap the scope in.;)

Wow thats a beauty!!

What is the deal with the 11.3" twist? Are you shooting the lighter bullets? 155s?

Nope, shooting heavier bullets...........

As stated previosly, the 1 in 11.3" twist is the CatsA$$ for 168gr to 175gr bullets.I currently shoot Hornady 178gr AMAX bullets and they shoot GREAT!!!!!:D

The reason the project took so long was that the factory barrel shoot so well I decided not to change it until it went "south", or the round count got up there. The factory barrel ended up with just under 8000 rounds through it.

Once that barrel was coming off, then it was time to have the reciever "blueprinted" and set up for a nice stainless match barrel.

Different optics and mounts have come and gone over the years and I finally think I have found the final scope & mounts for this rig.;)

Thanks for all the compliments!!!!:D
