So, with my tax refund burning a hole in my pocket, I want to upgrade the stock on my rifle (sadly, as nice as the 5R stock is by default, it's just too short and low for me).

Wolverine is clearing out the old AI AX AICS chassis upgrades (the 'clubfoot' version / 2013 year), but there is the new version of the upgrade chassis available now. Course, that's 500 bucks more over the sale price... but the new chassis system has a much nicer buttstock, and the trigger area doesn't need milling if you have an aftermarket trigger like a Timney or Jewell (although that doesn't matter so much for me, as my trigger is dimensionally the same as the stock trigger). They apparently have also changed the action bedding area to better support the rear tang.

The adjustability of the rear interface to my shoulder and face seems to be the key difference; the 2014 model seems to come with more default LOP than the previous model before needing spacers. It also has tilt and height adjustment for the recoil pad.

Now, is that worth the extra 500 bucks? I dunno... kinda conflicted about it. The old ones are good, no doubt about that, but at the same time, there are apparently significant improvements to the new model.

Opinions?

Mile High and Euro Optic and have been for a while, unfortunately south of the border.

There was one for sale on wolverines website the other day, no pic though. [Edit: looks to be sold now]

I didn't realize it came with all those new improvements, I think it would be worth the extra money plus you get the new style butstock that folds to the right side.
