Hullo all.

I picked up one of the AIA Enfields in 7.62x39, and the scope I'm using on it finally arrived, so I installed it.

Alas, what I was afraid of has happened....the addition of the scope results in me no longer having a good cheek weld, I now have a chin-weld.

So.

I want a cheek-rest, as is normally found on a #4(T)....where's a good source?

I got one quite a few years ago for one of my No.4s, but can't remember from whom. I think it was probably Dr. Roger Payne over in the U.K.

But in case you can't find one, I can reccommend googling Beartooth and looking at their comb-raising kit of a neoprene sleeve with a selection of closed-cell foam pads of different thicknesses. These can be combined under the sleeve to produce a custom-height cheek rest. I have one on another of my No.4s (with the fairly high Cad-Tech scope mount) and it works well. There were enough pads leftover that I was able to get a second sleeve on its own from them and do the same thing on my Savage24F.

I bought a newly made beech one from Ds Solutions in the UK. Minwax Puritan Pine stain and a couple coats of Truoil gave a reasonably close colour match.
