I have been slobbering over a buds MDT Tac 21 build in .308 but with a Coyote, TRG and M1A in that calibre I can't justify another .308 but I can make room for another .223 and I fancy a build using a Remy SPS (20" tube) and either of an AICS 2.0 or MDT. Initially this will be a semi-precise and cheap-to-feed plinker for the moment but will allow for removal of the "semi" prefix with installation of a quality barrel down the road.

Sadly I missed out on the MDT promo price so what I am looking at today is around a grand for the MDT plus another $300 or so for buttstock and grip - this is near enough to the price of AICS 2.0 so that cost is a wash.

I have AICS 1.5 on another rifle so I am familiar with AI more than MDT but that MDT sure do look puuuurty ! What do you guys think ?

If you want to dress up your 700 in Magpul koolaid, the MDT is the ticket.
Drink the koolaid, but personally I find the AI much more classy IMO.

AICS 2.0 gets my vote.

x2 ... ;)

If you already have an AICS, why not try the MDT? If you're not happy with it I don't think you'll have a problem selling it.
I drooled over the MDT in Chilliwack, and yes it sure is purrrty.

IMO nothing nicer to me right now than this.....Magpul Koolaid or not its a very modular rifle and if Magpul's not your thing use other parts..

I'm looking forward to an MDT Tac build up of my 700. I already have the Magpul PRS, spare MIAD grips and bipod - so the cost if the chassis is an easier pill to swallow. I also like the Idea of modular stocks for the MDT that the AI doesn't offer.

If the MDT offers the same ergonomics as the AR15 than it's a winner for some shooters.

**Sigh** and here I am still off in the corner waiting for my JAE700RSA

One day.....

Between these two its tough. I'm just barely edging towards the AICS similar to Cpt.flan. I don't know if I want to turn my bolt action into a AR lookalike but at the same time my feeling towards the AICS is that I want something more unique as everyone seems to be getting AICS chassis (for good reason mind you) and I want something less common.

I'd say I'd be happy with either of the choices, each for different reasons.

^^^ This is pure fail.... lol ^^^ EDIT: This was "fail" because on my work computer the image was all black (too dark) it's not as bad with my home computer. lol

I came from an AICS to an MDT. No reason for the switch really, I just like change. Obviously with the AICS you get the folder, but if it's just for compact storage or transport the MDT has the same advantage. There also may be an advantage in having AR ergonomics. The only other difference I can see would be the finish. The plastic panels with the AICS can wear or crack easy, and the cosmetic finish of said panels isn't really that nice. The MDT's finish is superb, black steel baby! Both are the best of the best IMO, it's really just cosmetic preference.
