not finding any of the old Thumbhole model of AICS stocks and not sure I like the new stocks

would the long action fit the Cadex shepherd in 338 action inlet or would modifications be necessary?

got some ammo and need something to shoot it in, not sure where I am headed yet,

are the old Thumbhole folders hard to find and would any site sponsors have any or used only now?

looking for helpful suggestions

guess I could get one of those orange new strike nuke chassis but the recoil on the 250 grain factory lapua might be too much to control even with a brake on this type of chassis?

Thoughts please

I think Wolverine has the AT style stock in .338 in stock. You can get the stock sides that have the thumb hole as well which converts it back to the older original style which they also had in stock the last time I looked.

Shepard is the same footprint at the M700 is it not?

I had a Stiller Tac338 in an older AICS folder and one thing with the Stiller action was the barrel tenon was slightly longer ( a good thing ) vs a Rem 700 long action which required filling and relocating the recoil lug slot in the chassis. It was a drop in to the Rem 700 long action chassis otherwise.

You should check and confirm if the Cadex action has a similar change vs a 700 long action dimensions. It’s easy to accomplish that change in a composite stock but took a bit of machine work in the AICS chassis.

found out the cadex will fit into the chassis,

now to see if I can find a old one or try one of the newer models to see if it feels the same in the hand as the old thumb hole which is really good fit

thanks for the replies I knew the stiller was out a bit

Also the Barnard are a little different as well but can be made to fit

Hi Jefferson, I know this is an old post, but I do have some things of interest for your consideration. PM me if you are still interested in these sorts of things. BTW, are you in Calgary?
