got a AICS folder ordered and should be here in 2 weeks form ATRS (could cal them but looking for gunnutz imput)

I probably will go with a borden alpine action with custom barrel in 308 for Xmas, BUT IN THE MEANTIME

? CAN I place a SPS Tactical 308 into the stock for summer shooting 700 beans or so cost ?

what twist is the barrel (could not find on the website)

how much do I need to worry about bedding,

is it a drop in or do I need something that will handle the AICS 308 mags ??

Just thought I could shoot something this year while making up my mind about a custom action for next year,

so is this do-able in an afternoon or is there modifications I need to worry about ??

thanks new to this tac-ti-cal stuff going to shoot at 300 or less with sps and never had a 308, and yes I reload for years,

oh and what kind of rail can I get with n o MOA for now

i belief they are patterned on the r 700 action and intended to fit stocks for the same. rot should be 1:12 for the sps. i'd go with the weaver tactical rail, forty bucks from western gun parts in edmonton. good luck.

Remy's are an easy drop-in to AICS : I have two - 1.5 in Long action and 2.0 in short. Most people don't do additional bedding but some do - some even remove some of the aluminum block and Devcon - I have not. I think you will like AICS; most of us who have them like them lots.

You can drop in the SPS just fine. FWIW, there is nothing wrong with just keeping that action. If it were me, i would keep the SPS action and use the Borden action money on a couple of different barrels and have a kick-ass switch barrel gun. With one gun/stock/action/scope/trigger, you can have barrels in anything that will take a 308 bolt face, so 6X47 Lapua, 6BR, 260 Rem etc. etc.

You can even get a PT&G bolt in a magnum bolt face or a 223 bolt face and use any short magnum, or any cartridge bases on the 222/223 bolt face.

Barrel swaps take a minute witht he right tools, and one basic framework means you become intimately familiar with the characteristics of the trigger, scope etc.

Just food for thought....
