Ed BEGGS (V Bull precision / Contributor to the site), has a Green AICS folder with butt pad and ckeek peice in stock. $1300? + tax. Comes with mag / bottom metal so its actually not that bad.

Great very solid and proven system. I really liked it and am serious about using one on my next custom tactical rifle.

I've had several, there are several "stages";

Stage 1: fixed stock, no cheekpiece. (discontinued I believe)

Stage 1.5: fixed stock, adjustable cheekpiece (current base model)

Stage 2: folder, adjustable cheekpiece.

These are very good kit, and recently wolverine was still able to get them, I'd give him a call the prices have come down too, used to be about $1000 to get into a stage 1 probaly more like $800 for a 1.5 now, and almost $1900 for a stage 2, likely $1400 or slightly less now.

Yep, prices came down alot with our better dollar. Give Wolverine a call for the best price.

They're a great investment for a 700.

I think they run about 1100 - 1200 from wolverine that's where I got mine, great guys to deal with. Very impressed with my stock. Heavy though, need to eat your wheaties to shoot it offhand. Worthwhile investment though. Phone wolverine they might have some in stock, probably no folders though. Cheers,

John

I had a Stage 1 then changed to the stage 2 but now I'm back to the stage 1. The extra weight of the stage 2 didn't seem to be worth it thought the folding stock is cool looking.

Hey Jamie
I was in love with the AICS after NAOH let me try his out. I opted for the folder for my .300 Win. Mag. and honestly find it only usefull for three reasons. The first is cleaning (nice to swing the whole cheek piece unit out of the way) and the other is fitting it into the storage compartment on a Jet Ranger Helicopter. The third was the way the rifle now recoils straight back. With mild loads I can watch the bullet hit the target through the scope. If its worth the extra $ 300 to do these things.....giver (the later two made it worth it to me) you'll love the mag system too. Just try one to see how it fits your body....some people just hate them.

(I'm considering this for future doing-up) If you had a Remington 700 Police bedded and floated by HWMNBN, would you still recommend this stock in terms of useability and accuracy (not comfort or looks)?

That depends on what you want to use if for and which you shoot better with. I love the AIC for use on the range but I'd hate to hump it around the hills after game, that is why I also have a HS police stock that it have been bedded to as well as the AIC. Somedays I'm not sure which I like better but then the AIC mag reminds me how freaking good it is and I usually stick to the AIC.

I love my AICS.

It is one of those stocks that you either love, or hate. You are better off to find someone who will let you shoot one before you buy it.

Rohann, if you make it to the 2007 BCRA Precision/sniper match, you can have a go on mine on the Friday Sight in day.

I find it very comfortable to shoot, and the BIG plus is the detachable mag system. The mag system feeds flawlessly.

IIRC, the folder was the one that was discontinued, along with the long action version.

SKBY.

Discontinued you say........bummer. I just got my long action folder last month. Must have been lucky. Skullboy any reason why they discontinued the long action? or is it just the long & short action folder that was discontinued?

Thanks! I'd really appreciate that. I'll definately be making it there, I was really dissapointed that I couldn't even come to observe last year, but I should have my Mk4 by mid-December at least, and then I'll start practicing. I'm not sure if I'll be reloading by the time the match comes around though.

Skullboy got me hooked on the V1.5 AICS chassis. I found it too heavy for my matches after a couple of shoots. I'm just getting to old, I guess.

I found that my medium sized hand fit the thumbhole stock perfectly and that worked for me. I'm just thankful that I'm too old to deploy and use one of these great bombproof pieces of kit.

Cheers,
Barney

When was the long action AICS discontinued. I just got my 1.5 about 2 months ago in long action and it was brand new from the factory?

John

The long action was never discontinued, the Stage II folder (Short and long action) was discontinued for a short while, but is now back in production due to demand. Please check our web page for prices and e-mail for availability, we do not have all models in stock at this time.
