Who has A AICS with A Rem 700? I want to get one but would like to hear about them first. I like the fact that it comes with the mag and stuff. Cheers

The AICS mag system is the best there is, but the stock is a question of comfort, taste, and value for money.

HPS in the UK also makes a very similar stock to the AICS, and I understand it even uses the same mags. Less money as I recall.

I have a rem 700 xcr chambered in .338 RUM.

I also have the AICS stock, It will work well for me for a "range" stock. It is too heavy and the wrong shape to really work for a hunting stock. Sight line from the cheek rest to the scope is almost perfect for me. LOP is also ideal for me with 2 spacers. Hand position with the thumb hole is comfortable. Magazine prevents me from seating bullets long.

I got my hands on a used HS precision stock, weight is almost the same as the original remington stock. This will be my hunting stock i believe.

Just waiting for my action to come back and ill testing the HS stock.

My experience with the 1.5, and 2.0 chassis is that they are solid like a tank, fit really nicely, and are very well thought out with the flat bottom, integral bipod mount, and the well positioned sling mounting points. As others have mentioned, they do add a bit of weight to the rifle though.

I found the 2.0 to have another disadvantage in that the hinge was too close to my mouth. In the winter, it was a cold piece of steel right in front of my teeth.

Okay thanks, I have A Remington 700 like I said. It is chambered in .243 Ackley Improved with A heavy stainless steel barrel that is 1" at the muzzle and fluted. As it sits now it is in A McMillan Bench rest stock which is A nice stock but it's not what I need it's just too heavy and I cannot mount A bi-pod to it. This rig is going to be for all my varmint hunting needs and will be out fitted with A Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25 scope. With all this said I will be selling the Bench rest stock as well I don't know what it would be worth( if anyone knows?) here are some pics.

interesting you have bedded 1½'' after barrel lug, I have been suggested no further than barrel lug
and my rem 700 bedding looks failed cause I put on the actions screws in maybe too tight, but otherwise barrel and action were tilting forward and I would've lost floating of the barrel. I can actually see through bedding material.
however, the aluminum bedding block on my rem700 xcr was already snug (aluminum marks on action) at least the bedding did allow me to achieve proper lug support

I have an AICS. My first impressions.....poor fit and finish. The two halves of my 2.0 don't fit together 100% around the trigger guard....(not really a big deal and no one would notice it unless you point it out...however....at 1200 or whatever they're worth today it should be 100%) I like the feel of the thumbhole and the stock is built like a tank. The bedding block mates perfectly to a 700 action so zero bedding is required. Some people say you need to skim bed it....I haven't seen the need for it yet. As it was said already.....the mag system is the best in the business. Anyways...I think you get great value out of the non-folder 1.5. You get the best mag system and a chassis that requires no bedding and you can drop the barreled action in yourself without any fitting required....plus you get to deal with Mr. Wolverine and they have kept a good inventory of the AICS's in the past...which means little to no waiting. To me....all that adds up to great value.

I have a AICS 1.5. The only bad part is the weight. You would not want to take it hunting. Other than that, the finish, quality and accuracy is amazing.

Built like a tank and very heavy like one.

I prefer the McMillan A5 with DBM.

Interesting, seems to be made by "System Gemini", I've had the chance to play with one of their rimfire match stock... didn't know they were into high power rifle also.

There are several makers including us that make good bottom metal kits that use the AI mags, so to buy a stock simply on that reason is silly.
The AI chassis/stock is 1 of those stocks that either you love or hate the fit and feel of. They are fairly well made, but if you are not a fan of the feel of tupperware or don't like the thumbhole design you may not like the stock.
I know I do not like the way they don't fit me or the feel, which is why my own rifles mostly wear McMillan A5 stocks. Stock fit is paramount for accuracy.
I would strongly suggest trying to see if there is someone near you that will allow you to feel and preferably shoot a rifle with an AI stock on it before buying 1.
Make no mistake I am not slamming them, but they have a very different feel and for the amount of $$ they are 1 should be sure they like what they are getting.

AICS hunting, eh, most want their 6 pound loaded guns, but I lugged this 17 pounder all day. Payed off, but to each his own, it was a little bit of effort.
As Rick said, you either love em, or hate em. I love mine, love it, love it, love it, Rick still makes fun of me for having it. My fit was fairly good on the skins, and had it bedded as well. Over all I like it. I live A5's as well, but I like the thumb hole feel. Got the 2.0 and love that its fits in an iddy biddy case as well.

I also have an AICS 1.5 on my 6.5x47L. It is very comfortable to shoot and ergonomics are great. I like that you can get ten round mags for the short action as well. Only downside is added weight to the rifle system. Good luck
