I am new to reloading and I only have the Lymans 49th and Hodgdon load data that came with my press. Neither has any data on the 124 gr bullet. I am looking at using 700x or Win231 any help with load data would be great. Thanks.

I think Lymann has 125gr data ( close enough when you start at the bottom and work up ) and Hodgdon has tons of stuff on-line. Go with either.

From the downloadable Winchester manual

Start at 3.8-4.0 grains of 231 and work up

here's a couple more 231 loads - older books loads are definitely hotter!

hornady 4th edition 124 grain fmj min 4.7 gr 231 1050fps max 5.3 gr 231 for 1125 fps

speer number 11 (1987) 124 gr tmj 4.6 gr 231 1008 fps max 5.0 gr 231 1077 fps

speer number 11 (1987) 125 gr jsp 4.6 gr 231 1030 fps max 5.0 gr 231 1096 fps

sierra shows 5.1 gr 231 as max with 125 fmj for 1150 FPS

I havent tried any loads as of yet and yes they are plated. From the AIM website they say that you should be somewhere between lead and jacketed bullets for your loads but usually closers to the lead. I follow those instructions and work from there.

I have been working up loads with the AIM 124 9mm for the past 2 weeks
I see the Win data as max oal as 1.169.
I tried some at 1.160 ... no problem in a Glock, but Schutzen loaded in a Hi-power.
perhaps a different ogive??
What oal is Ganderite loading to????

AIM 124 gr recipes

I just worked up a load for the 124 Gr (0.355 RN ENC) with some Titegroup. I primarily shoot a G17 and wanted this round for punching holes in paper.

Recipe is as follows (Based on Speer #13 LEAD RN):

Titegroup Powder: 4.0 grains
OAL: 1.125"
Primer: CCI500
WIN Brass

I did have to adjust the taper crimp (RCBS carbide dies). I usually reload FMJ's and I found the plated AIM bullets to be bit softer.

Overall, I'm very happy with the round. No signs of overpressure, clean burn and very low smoke. As for accuracy - 2 inch group at 20 yards, the best I did all night. Suffice to say, I was pleasantly suprised! Good thing considering I picked up 1000 of 'em. :) I worked the load up from 3.6 to 4.2 grains and I think I'll settle on the 4.0 grains for plinking. Didn't get a chance to chrono though.

How did your reloads work out?

A lot of the factory 124's have 1.150 O.A.L.

Load shorter if you are having feeding issues.

I load even shorter at 1.100 O.A.L.

ON Saturday I ran about 150 rounds of AIM 124 loads through an M&P 9 and a $100 + Shipping - Canada Ammo Norinco M213 .also ran a few factory 124's.Can't remember my OAL but the die was set using a factory Winchester 147 FWIW. will measure tonight and edit this post.

Loads were 4.5 and 5.0 grains of WW231. guns fed & cycled perfectly. had a couple of stovepipes with the M213 but only on the last round. While not much difference in perceived recoil between the 5.O grain loads and the 4.5s, the primer indentations (CCI) on the 5.0 grain load were "smeared" a bit which I believe indicates flow back of the primer metal through the firing pin hole- so definitely the load was too hot. Primer indentation of the 4.5 grain load was normal v. the factory loads.

Accuracy wise I didn't really benchrest it - normal Weaver stance - but my spreads at 25 yards were more horizontal- 3" -4 " than vertical - 2". I must admit shamefully  that I soon gave in to the siren song of the 5 steel plates at our range :D:D and spent most of my ammo knocking these down - about 90% of the time on the first shot, including figuring out where the m213 was printing ( 4 " left in this case).

not to drift off topic but for $126 at your door the Canada Ammo M213s are a fantastic deal- and if you want a couple more mags, just buy another. :D:D

Finished my workup for the AIM 124.
Loaded and tested 1000 rounds and settled on the following.

1.11 OAL
4.1 Universal
Fed SP.
Brass was
Fed.
Win.
CCI

All good results.
Works in
Hi Power
Glock17
Glock 34
Springfield
Colt
Ruger P85
Para
CZ

OAL was the big surprise for me.
The ogive of the AIM seems to be different than the Winchester FMJ I have been using, so OAL adjustment was necessary.
Also "shank " length requires seating adjustment to ensure stability.
Watch your taper crimp adjustment... least is best as long as setback is no issue.
Accuracy is limited less by the ammo than it is by the operator.
Translation.... this stuff shoots better than I am capable of holding.
