I'm looking to buy one of the two. Price is not a part of the equasion. I'm looking for input/opinions form people who have used both sights. I personally have not used either sights, and know on one who owns one or the other. Thanks GNers

I own one of each. Range/woods use only, my trips to the middle east don't involve carrying firearms.

Eotech: Great quality, reticle pattern (65MOA ring with 1 MOA dot) is great. I have a N-cell version, which means that it's nice and short.

Aimpoint: Sets the standard for reliability and battery life. I don't find that the single dot is quite as quick in a real close-range setting, but it's still very fast. I've actually got a 2MOA dot, 2X version in a "scout" type mount. It's all the scope that I'll need out to at least 300 meters.

Long story short...try to find a retailer that stocks them, and look through them. If you can't do that, be happy knowing that both companies make a solid product and you'll be getting a solid sight.

Used to have Eotechs, (512, 552, 553). Got rid of them all.

Now I have an Aimpoint M4s(and 3x magnifier), two Micro T-1's and two Micro H-1's.

If I'm paying for them myself, it's Aimpoint.

What you want to mount them on is part of the equation. The Eotech by design sits high. It is great for flat top ARs but a bit of a bear to mount on most other platforms. Aimpoints will allow you to mount them quite low on more conventionally styled guns.

Aimpoint all the way. The 3x magnifier can be used with the micro and it makes for an excellent light weight combo. As far as I am concerned they are tops when it comes to reliability and battery life.

I have 2 eotechs and one aimpoint. I prefer the eotechs, but that's just me...I like gadgets. The aimpoint is simple and not very flashy...just a red dot, 2 MOA. The eotech has a fine 1 MOA center dot and a bigger circle. For range and field use both are tough enough; jumping out of planes and APC's might be a different story.

I really dig the EOTech, for what it's worth. I have the N-Cell on my LMT right now, and a used AA version on the way for my work rifle. My experience with Aimpoint has also been positive.

From everyone I've talked to, and as previously mentioned, it mostly comes down to the type of reticle that you prefer. Try out both, if you have the opportunity.

x2

Aimpoints are good to go for most any setup.

For durability the Aimpoint is hard to beat and recently a tactical unit in Ontario was looking for replacements for their Eotechs, and after testing the Aimpoints they settled was the M4 unit.

I find that the EoTech reticale is much better for me to shoot. Also I love it on my shotgun! Make's me shoot alot better even though all the old timer's still out shoot me it's not by that much.;)

I have used both and both are good but I believe the Aimpoint is better.

The EoTech is fast due to the reticle. For a CQB setup it's great.

Problems with the EoTech:
- Lower battery life than Aimpoints (1,100 hours to 50,000)
- Cold starts as the Eotech has a built in automatic off feature (Oh sh*t, the optic turned off - Happened to me right before a doing a timed drill)
- The Eotech battery box is not watertight (Aimpoints are watertight)
- Batteries lie horizontal in line with the barrel meaning recoil will cause the batteries to move back and forth compressing the springs holding them in contact to the point that power can be lost as the batteries are no longer touching the contact end/nipples. (Aimpoint Comp M4s the battery is sealed in and springs recoil tested for shotguns and have extra protection)
- Since the Eotech is a holographic weapon sight there have been reports that users cannot see the reticle when using polarized lens. Link below.

The Aimpoint though really requires an anti-reflection device (ARD) since the reflection can be easily seen at certain angles.
