I finally purchased an optic for my AR (Aimpoint Comp ML2 4moa)!
Now looking for advice on a mount that will provide absolute co-witness with exisiting LMT fixed iron sights on my flattop AR.

I'm liking the following from GG&G and was wondering if the standard height mount will give me absolute co-witness.

Also, if anyone can suggests something similar...and where to buy I'm listening.

Thanks for your help...

I have 2 of the M2 Comps and run with the Aimpoint QRP mount. They are good solid mounts. The US military also use these. I also have some ARMS mounts as well as a very rare Wilcox mount. The Wilcox is used by SEALs on their MK18 MOD0 CQBR.........Try the QRP mount though....you will like it.

Thanks for the info.
Where can I get one? Looks like I'll need a spacer to get the co-witness.
Do you find the knob sticks out too far?

Ar180shooter that really would work nicely for his LMT iron sight's. Although in the mail you should recieve one that should be even better than this for co-witnessing ;)
Now that GG&G mount will work but you will notice when using your Aimpoint red dot. No matter what mount you use you will not really end up using your iron sight's. This is because your eye focuses on the red dot and the iron sight ends up hindering your field of view and defeating the purpose of the quick target aquisition when using red dot's.
Again this is just my point of view from using these devices in this manor.

Damn, now I'm really curious.

And I agree that co-witnessing with iron sights defeats the purpose of a red dot sight. I do like the idea of having irons available to you in case your optics become damaged/inoperable; however, this is mainly a concern to soldiers in the field, and shouldn't be something you are worried about with your AR that is restricted to range use only.

Satain makes some good point about things getting busy co-witnessing fixed iron sights and a reddot. I considered lower 1/3 co-witness but didn't like the idea of having to use different cheek-welds for the reddot vs iron sight.
If things get messy I'll end up selling the fixed LMT's and get folding BUIS.
I can't believe how limited the choices and availability of Aimpoint mounts are available to us Canucks. I've been surfing all day and appears I may have to keep using my irons for now.
The AD-68 and MI #16 may work but can't seem to find a Canadian supplier:(

La Rue Tactical LT129 M2 mount. This should co-witness perfectly with your AR's sights. It is available at Fabsports.

Thanks Ar180...I saw this one but seems kinda pricey and the description wasn't clear if it would give me co-witness. I really don't need/want the "goose neck" look but I'm sure LaRue makes a great product.
Besides, I kinda gave up on Fabsports 'cause they never seem to have what I want in stock.

Don't blame Fabrice as these LaRue mount's are a hot seller. Most places down south even have them on back order. I was just quoted 2 to 3 months for 1.

Thanks for all the pm's and help!
Wolverine had the MI MCTAR-16 in stock (so I ordered one).
The standard height is designed to provide co-witness of fixed iron sights.
I think it will work out just fine....
