Just wondering;
Whats the max range you use your micro Aimpoint for?
I can get consistent hits out to 200 yds..... is it still useful out to 300? 400?
Is there a practical limit to its accuracy before switching to a conventional scope?

Considering the size of the dot compared to an iron sight post, I'd say any range iron sights are useful at, a red-dot would be probably better.

It's not uncommon to have guys shooting at 500 yards with iron sights, but of course they're shooting usually at man-sized targets, so if that's what you're planning on doing I'd say a red-dot would work fine. You just have to consider what your hold-over is, whereas most iron sight rifle sights have a range-adjustment on it, with a red-dot you'll be using hold overs.

If you go 2moa dot, which exists now it is quite easy to 300-400 really, of course all relative to size of target you consitently want to hit. :)

Optics don't help you shoot better, they help you see better.

The better question is, how good are your eyes? If you can reference the red dot correctly, no reason you can't shoot well.

Get the 2 MOA Micro T-1 for longer distances. The 4 MOA model is good for shotguns and closer distances, but the 2 MOA is great for AR’s, etc which will be shooting both CQB – med distances.

Other than actually looking at it, how do you tell between a 2 and a 4 moa model?
I'm thinking gopher-sized targets at 200 or 300 might need a proper scope...

I have an H1 (4moa) and a T1 (2moa) and honestly I cannot tell the difference very much between the two. The only way for me to really tell is to have the same brightness setting on both then the 2moa seems smaller but if you turn up the brightness, the dot will appear just as big as the 4moa.

i have the T1 in both 4 moa and 2 moa...the difference is hardly noticable. torso size is the best you can hope for at 400, i would say that a red dot has a practical limit of 200 and under...

just my opinion of course...

if you really want to reach out to 400 and beyond but still have a CQB optic, i would suggest a 1-4X.....there are lots out there to choose from, anywhere from $300-$2200 price range...

400m is not unreasonable to hit with a CCO.
However your going to be be aiming over or at the head (bbl length and ammo). Any wind and your going to be kentucky windage holds in the sky...

I had some AFSOC and USASOC folks shooting an E type steel at 400m with our 8" PDW and a T1 (4MOA) a few months ago.
Not what I would recommend (gun or optic) for the range -- but it can work.

There are a number of good variables in the 1-4,1-6 and 1-8 range that are going to be better for using at range -- especially for PID.

Thanks all!
I have a Leupold 1.25x4 Patrol that I will try on my upcoming project for longer ranges, and leave my Aimpoint as it is on my current rifle, since it is nicely dialed in for our 200 yard range already.

I don't see me being able to do that anytime soon. Lol!

For gopher-sized targets I may have to go to a still bigger scope for 300 yds + though.

If you don’t have the box it came in, then look at the side of the T-1. The 2 MOA says "2 MOA" whereas the 4 MOA says nothing (same as the box).

Here, these are both brand new:

Who has these in stock in the Vancouver area I am still trying to decide on a red dot/reflex/prismatic/low powered variable scope need to see these Aimpoints...

Anyone showing them at the Huntfest show in Chilliwack June 22-24?

Most definitely. At that distance, they would be almost completely covered by the dot, depending on size. If you were shooting at a silhouette or a 12" bull at that distance it would be OK, but gophers are too small.
