When the sun is at my back shining into my optic from the 7 o'clock position, a red beam of light appears on a 45 degree angle in the top left corner in the glass of my optic. It almost floods about 40 percent of my sight picture with this effect.

Has anyone else had this experience??

I was told by a representative at aimpoint that it's due to the coating on the front lens and that its a common characteristic with aimpoint products in general. I find it really hard to believe that law enforcement/military groups would be okay with such and obscurity in there sight picture. Especially in the field when rapid target acquisition becomes a major factor....

again, has anyone else had this experience? Is this actually a common occurrence? Or is this a defect?

Ps.. I would post pics but I don't think I have the option under newbie status..

Thanks in advance for any info on the matter.

Haha yeah, customer service at it's finest. So you would agree that this sounds like a defect?

yes it does Caleb

Straight up I'm sorry but if any customer service station ever tries to make an EXCUSE for their product not working 100% then you deserve your money back and move on

It's the nature of the enclosed reddot reflex system and is cause by sun glint / glare, brightness of the dot, the position of the operator head and yes glass coatings!

It's not a defect and customer service is not f/:;& you!

It's a common occurrence.

Nothing's perfect it seems.... dust in the eye can also diminish the effectiveness of most optics despite the cost.
