Been looking for a good RDS for awhile now, almost bought a eotech but all the reviews pointed to aimpoint as more superior.

I was thinking aimpoint pro for a flattop semi-auto .223 or semi auto .308.

Opinions?

Own one since they started to make them.

It has seem thousands of rounds both at work and weekend range in all conditions. Shot it from 2m to 400m.

Best bang for the buck, I know have 3

I've had a couple as well. Very durable. Aimpoint's yearly price increases have slowly started to move it out of the smart budget category. But this scope is every bit as good as their others.

Abso-freakin-lutely. Aimpoint is as good as it gets for red dots. If the PRO has creeped out of your price range try the ACO, still every bit as good with a lower price tag.

I have 2 Aimpoint PRO's and a T2. Not 1 single issue to report.

Picked up my PRO's on EE one was 400 the other 450 ;)

The mount look atrocious, so I threw on some ADM's

I wouldn't say so much that the PRO has creeped out of the price range. It's just when it was $400 it was an excellent buy compared to say the M4s. But with prices going up, you can often make the jump to something lightly used that's a bit higher up. It becomes, why not spend the bit extra to go up instead of settling? At $400 it was half the price and honestly when behind the optic, you couldn't tell the difference between the PRO and the M4s. Great quality and value at that time.

Now let's also look at the current price point with regards to competing other brands...At around the $600 mark for the PRO... The Eotech XPS2 is around $650 (I have had 0 issues with my Eotech's and really like them), Trijicon has the MRO which if you shop around you can find for around the $720 range. So do you go for the near base model Aimpoint or the full models for a bit more from the competitors? Again at $400, it was an easy choice. I picked up two of them and they are excellent. But at the current price point? I don't know.

Dilligaf,
I though of dumping the PRO mount myself, as I'm also used to the ADM mounts with the M4s, but honestly, I kind of like how it has a built in feature so you can't over torque it. It seems to be less of a problem than I originally thought it would be. I kind of like the regular mount now and cant' justify buying the ADM mounts.

Aimpoint PRO's on a LMT mrp and a C8IUR. Work great.

They are a bit heavy compared to the T2 but if you can get one for $450 on the EE it's a good deal. If you want to save the 10 ounces look for a trijicon mro or Aimpoint H1 used.

No kidding. When they were $400, it was a no brainer and I grabbed two. Wish I bought more, lol!

You can still occasionally find them in EE for cheap, but if you want to buy one right away from a shop, well, I'd probably look at other options as well.

I have one for sale in the EE but not for lack of quality. It just wasn't suiting my application. I needed some magnification and did not have room on my Mini-14 for a magnifier. Aside from that it's an excellent optic. It is surprisingly very accurate and offers the benefit of shooting with both eyes open for moving targets.

I use a M4s with the ADM mount 4 out of 8 days. :) You actually can over torque it. If you tighten the tension screw too much it can mark up your pic rail. The PRO doesn't allow you to do that. Don't get me wrong the ADM mount is overall a better choice as less stuff hanging out of the rifle is always a positive. Of course I do agree that the ADM is better than the PRO factory mount. But I still can't justify changing the PRO mount out.

Another little known option is the Kinetics sidelok mount. I have one for a Hesnoldt RSA. Really like it for that optic. I don't know how it would stack up against the ADM but it's pretty slick and they do make an Aimpoint version. In my case I needed a riser and this offered a great solution. They are a unique quality product. They make specific mounts using this system for MRO and Aimpoint as well.

Aimpoint PRO version.

I like the PRO mount as well, but I did swap it out for another mount once. That was only because it was a clone build and it called for a Wilcox mount:
