Anyone own or used this model? Air Arms Air Arms S500XS Extra SL .177 Cal - Walnut

Some years back I had a very similar .22 AA S510. As I recall, this rifle, which doesn't have a regulator, would get about about 40 good shots per fill.

This one (S500XS Extra) is regulated and good for at least 60 at high power.

Given a choice, I'd choose a regulated PCP. Among others, I had the Weihrauch HW 100 in both .177 and .22 and liked them a great deal. They could be adjusted so that they would shoot at a desirable MV with the pellet of choice.

I once owned a 510 FAC .177 and I had a regulator installed. It was so accurate it was hard to believe. It was the cheaper version with a cheaper wood stock. I always wished it had been the walnut stock. The magazine worked well but this single shot is so much simpler. I think it is going to be mine.

I bought it... haven't had a chance to group shoot it yet but I expect it will be great. Chronograph results... 10.34 grain pellet max velocity just under 1000 f/s and minimum at 500 f/s. Light pellets just under 1100 f/s and louder. (it has five settings). Beauty stock.

I have an Air Warrior 12 volt and 110 volt 4500 PSI compressor... works very well.

Congratulations.

Bob Sterne, one of Canada's most knowledgable airgunners, who posts on CAF and elsewhere, has long advocated that MV with the pellet of choice should not exceed about 900 fps. Heavier .177 pellets are prefered, assuming accuracy is good. Performance in terms of shots per fill (and probably accuracy as well) may benefit by turning the setting down from maximum.

Like it! Who is the vendor?

This one is the 510, a ten shot repeater with even nicer wood... good colour stripes and fiddle back

That is a great idea. My son started the 10m air rifle, a lot of his friends are keen to shoot but the cost involved with gear etc makes it a big barrier to entry. Silhouette air rifle is a wonderful way to get the younger generation interested in target shooting.

... had the "ooooooo" in both .177 and .22 and liked them ...

I am shopping around for ideas for my next season. Planning to get - or build myself a FT rig over the winter. I am a high fpe long range shooter with .25 so this will be a project for me.
Based on your experience, for up to 50 meters and 20fpe limit... which caliber would be a better choice? a 177 or 22.
Asking because I am so scared the .177 size, without reading glasses I can barely see the .22 to reload and this why I have no .177 in my drawers. Even with .22 mostly feeding by the feel only if I don't want to do glasses on and glasses down.
