My nephew is looking to by a break open .177 caliber high speed pellet gun(over the 500 fps mark).

What would you guys recomend?

Who makes the Ruger's, Winchester's, etc.?

Thanks!

Pending on your budget. You can't go wrong with the Diana 34.You can't go wrong with any of the HW springers, but more expensive(lifetime keepers though). Some of the Chinese models are good, but are diamonds in the rough. You'll need to do some tuning on them. The Ruger is a Chinese made break barrel.Don't know about the Winchesters though. You can check out the prices at Specialty Shooting Sports(online store) in BC.Great people to order anything airgun related from.Very helpful and they will do an inspection and shot test before sending it.

I would suggest the HW50s Its barrel is 14" which brings the weight a little closer to the center of the rifle and it does 800fps has an amazing 2 stage trigger, Is top quality and around $350. I think what you gain in this rifle in quality far out weighs the little drop in fps of a cheaper model. These guns are well worth it. I sold mine impusivley and want it back.

My first PAL springer was the gamo cfx underlever. It was super accurate too. I would suggest ordering one with a gas ram spring piston because its less recoil and lasts longer than regular springs.

I had to sell mine because eventually the spring broke and I didn't want to invest any money on springers. After I got into the pcp market my hobby has changed.

i have a used b21 PAL rated .22 cal sidelever action if you want. pm me. 760 fps using cph pellets. its a bit heavy but a solid rifle.
