Hi Guys

Looking for some experience with Air Pistols hunting info. I would like to buy a Air Pistol for Hunting Grouse. (When I hunt Moose or Deer) I am looking for a nice one, lots of power and accuracy. Hopefully not to heavy to carry. Any ideas or suggestions on make and model? Also where is a good place to buy one? (Ontario or on-line)

Thanks for your help.....

Makarov by Umarex. Its compact, accurate, and powerful enough for grouse. The only issue is that it's co2 and its power is greatly effected by the temperature, so you would have to pack it in such a way that the gun will stay warm. Another option could be a pistol with a removable co2 magazine.

I suggest the Webley Alecto from MrMarvin. It's a single stroke pneumatic so weather temp won't affect it much. They are surprisingly accurate too.

Not that anyone asked, but I thought I would just point out -these are the Reg's in BC...

Firearm - includes a device that propels a
projectile by means of an explosion, compressed
gas or spring and includes a rifle,
shotgun, handgun, pellet gun, "BB" gun or spring
gun but does not include a bow.

Handgun – is a firearm that is designed,
altered or intended to be aimed and fired by
the action of one hand or that has a barrel less
than 305 mm (12 in.) in length.

Handguns
It is illegal to hunt with a handgun in BC.

Firearms
No person shall hunt wildlife with a handgun.

So... cannot hunt ( in BC ) with a handgun ( even an airgun handgun )
------------------------------------------------------------------
However, in Ontario...

Firearms
Firearms include rifles, shotguns, air or pellet guns, bows and crossbows. You may use semi-automatic or repeating firearms for hunting in Ontario, but not handguns or fully automatic firearms. Air and pellet pistols with a muzzle velocity less than 152 metres (500 feet) per second may be used for hunting in Ontario (see restrictions on page 22).

Score 1 for Ontario.

See my crossman 2240 vs. beeman thread in this forum.

I ended up with the crossman 2240 and am very pleased with it. It is powerful and very accurate. The barrel is 11" and so gives you a very good site radius and is well balanced and shootable. I paid $55 at lebaron, but airgunsource in peterborough (I noticed you are in peterborough) has them for $75.
