Air Pistol vs Sling Shot BB Velocity

I was shooting with my air pistol (aprox 400 fps) and then pulled out my sling shot and tried the same targets. I'm a little less accurate with it, but I am curious as it seems that the same bb pellets that I used in the sling shot seem to be hitting the target nearly as fast as the ones from the air pistol.

Is this possible? This is only based on my feeling and perception, does anyone know if a sling shot can actually propel the bbs as fast as an air pistol?

Probably depends on the slingshot. A slingshot can also launch a heavier projectile.

Gee, he seems to think that he can use that sling shot at home for self-defence in Germany... You may as well just shoot them with a gun here in Canada cause that sling shot would get you thrown in jail just as quickly!

He likes to have fun building all sorts of crazy slingshots....I doubt he needs that slingshot for self defense.
